About the Artist:

Kristin Lightsey Miller is an Air Force brat who grew up mostly in Virginia, but now lives in North Dakota with her husband, two kids, and three dogs. She earned a fine arts/ceramics degree from the College of William and Mary, and a biology degree from the University of South Dakota. Her mild obsession with the stranger side of nature (molluscs, insects, deep-sea fishes, squash) shows up in her work a good bit.
For those of you who are curious, but are not marine biology nerds, the name comes from the class of molluscs called "cephalopods", which comes from the Latin for "head" (cephal) and "foot" (pod). Because that's mostly what cephalopods are made of (think squids). Which is something my pottery can totally relate to.
